The Community Education Task Force of LBAR donates books to every elementary school in Central KY every year. We were so honored for each of the Rector Hayden agents that made the time and effort to volunteer and assist with this great community project.

Two of those special agents were Arla and Darrell Frazier. Arla and Darrell recently joined the RHR Family in Summer of 2016 after moving from the Indianapolis area where they also worked as leading real estate agents. Arla and Darrell have formed a team within Rector Hayden and gained an additional member, Theresa Terry as well! You can see their listings at: http://www.frazierteamrealty.rhr.com/

This year Darrell and I were thrilled to be a part.  We delivered and read  ‘The Day the Crayons Quit’ to an elementary class at Clay City Elementary and Stanton Elementary in Powell County. Darrell and I live in Clay City and it was a privilege and a joy to participate and meet these adorable kiddos and represent LBAR in such a meaningful way. We plan to participate in this event and others going forward – making a difference in the communities we serve.

Missy Ward, our most devoted philanthropist, was caught reading at James Lane Allen Elementary too! Thanks to our unseasonal weather, Missy looks like she’s dressed for Summer – Kentucky Weather is crazy!!! A huge thank you to Missy for participating in this great event for our community’s kiddos.

In its 9th year, LBAR continues bookpresentations to local elementary schools.

November 18th, 2016

This school year Realtors representing the Lexington-Bluegrass Association of REALTORS® (LBAR) visited the public elementary schools in Anderson County including Emma B. Ward Elementary, Robert B. Turner Elementary, and Saffell Street Elementary and presented a book. Each school received The Day the Crayons Quit by esteemed author Drew Daywalt and acclaimed

illustrator Oliver Jeffers. In The Day the Crayons Quit poor Duncan just wants to color, but when he opens his box of crayons, he finds only letters, all saying the same thing. His crayons have had enough; they quit!

In its ninth year, Melissa Poynter, the chair of the LBAR community education task force, has continued to lead this project.  This contribution to Anderson County is part of a larger donation to the public elementary schools in the Bluegrass region —LBAR will be presenting the book to over 140 elementary schools in 22 counties. The project is part of LBAR’s goal to become involved with the area’s school systems in innovative ways that will positively shape the future of our community’s children.

As the region’s leading advocate for homeownership, Lexington-Bluegrass Association of REALTORS® (LBAR) understands the value and joy of owning a home. LBAR represents more than 2,800 REALTORS® located in Anderson, Bath, Bell, Bourbon, Clark, Clay, Elliott, Fayette, Franklin, Harrison, Jackson, Jessamine, Knox, Laurel, Menifee, Montgomery, Nicholas, Powell, Rowan, Scott, Whitley, and Woodford Counties. For additional information please contact Elaine Hangis, LBAR Chief Executive Officer (859-276-3503 or via e-mail, elaine@lbar.com).
