36th Annual Festival of the Horse

The Festival of the Horse will take place on the streets of downtown Georgetown September 9-11, 2016. The Annual event will celebrate its 36th Anniversary in downtown this fall. The Festival of the Horse has promoted Scott County’s Horse Heritage, the downtown community and the interaction between the two for the past 36 years. Family oriented activities and entertainment are featured. This signature Georgetown event attracts visitors from throughout the Region and has become a beloved event for our local citizens.

Many of the components that have become so traditional to the festival will return. Friday highlights include the Republic Bank Colt and Filly Review Parade, Live Entertainment, Displays, Arts & Crafts, and of course, those wonderful Food Vendors! Friday evening attendance swells to over 18,000 and has become the traditional night for local folks to gather, visit, and swap tales of the adventures they’ve had over the past year. Saturday in Downtown Georgetown features the Toyota Grand Parade of Horses, Petting Zoo, Pony Rides and Kid Zone, with more great food and Live Entertainment. Experience the Horse/Horse Games will be at Brooking Park. The Petting Zoo, Pony Rides, and Kid Zone will be at Royal Spring Park. Sunday winds down the weekend with a Pet Parade, Blessing Of The Animals, Horse Show, Musical Shows on the Main Stage, and additional activities and entertainment. Estimated attendance – 33,000+.

All events are free. Downtown Georgetown. Friday 4 p.m.-10 p.m.; Saturday 11 a.m.-10 p.m.; Sunday 11 a.m.-5 p.m.

Where to see the Fireworks!

A classic family tradition is to gather around on a picnic blanket and watch a fireworks show in July!  Not only is it safer than lighting your own fireworks, it’s an exciting event for both youngsters and adults.

This year in Central Kentucky, we have a couple of fabulous fireworks shows lined up.  Now this list is NOT all of the festivities across the Bluegrass, but just a few you may want to check out.

Lexington, KY Fourth of July Festival

Scott County’s Annual Fourth of July Parade & Events

If you call the Georgetown area home, here’s activities for you to enjoy on Independence Day!  The Parade begins at 11am.  The Fireworks Show will be at Brooking Park once the sun sets. Berea’s Fourth of July Spectacular

Richmond’s Fourth of July Celebration
