THE BIG3

The BIG3, the highly-anticipated 3-on-3 professional basketball league, will play Rupp Arena in Lexington, KY on August 6th with four back-to-back games featuring All-Star basketball icons and celebrated fan favorites. Week 7 will see Coach Julius ‘Dr J.’ Erving’s Tri-State take on Mike Bibby and Ricky Davis’ Ghostballers. BIG3 first overall draft pick Rashad McCants is ready to prove to his Captains Kenyon Martin and Al Harrington that he was the right choice, when Trilogy challenges Coach Clyde “The Glide” Drexler’s Power. Brian Scalabrine and his Ball Hogs squad are set to combat 3 Headed Monsters led by Co-Captains Rashard Lewis and Jason Williams. In the final game in Lexington, Chauncey Billups, Charles Oakley and the rest of the Killer 3s square off against Allen Iverson aka The Answer, and the rest of 3s Company.

KY Bank Tennis Championships

Top ranked touring tennis professionals come from all over the world to compete in the KY Bank Tennis Championships, a USTA Challenger.

What:  A $75,000 USTA Pro Circuit men’s tournament and a $60,000 USTA Pro Circuit women’s tournament.

What is the USTA Pro Circuit?

The USTA has 94 tournaments throughout the country and prize money ranging from $10,000 to $100,000, the USTA Pro Circuit is the pathway to the US Open and tour-level competition for aspiring tennis players and a frequent battleground for established professionals. On average, more than 1,100 men and women from 79 countries compete on the USTA Pro Circuit annually for more than $3 million in prize money and valuable ATP and WTA Tour ranking points.

Mission of The Tournament: Lexington Challenger Tennis Charity, Inc. was organized in 2012 by a core group of conscience minded citizens with the purpose to raise charitable funds to benefit the local and state community. The idea initiated with the opportunity to generate money through a key event – the Kentucky Bank Tennis Championships, a USTA Pro Circuit Tennis Tournament for Men and Women. This event along with many other fundraising throughout the year will provide the resources to disperse funds to other charities in the community that operate with like minded missions. The Charity plans to generate financial support to benefit other established charities with an emphasis on education and assistance to further healthy living to individuals and groups in the community. It is the goal of the Charity to use its time and efforts to highlight the necessity that people must maintain healthy lifestyles with emphasis on sports to increase their life expectancy and minimize health problems. The Charity also supports the idea that assisting organizations with funding to create, maintain and improve facilities in the community that promote physical activity, the community as a whole can improve their health and well being. Therefore, the Charity will select like charities to contribute proceeds raised through the USTA tournament and other fundraising activities.

Who:  The Wall Street Journal referred to our event as “…many of today’s tennis stars first drew notice at this event. The Kentucky Bank Tennis Championships draws the next wave of athletes.” John Isner, James Blake, Tommy Haas, Lleyton Hewitt, Katarina Srebotnik, Justin Gimmelstob and many others have played in our tournament.

Why:  Our tournament is designed to create opportunities for young tennis players to enter the pro tour. We also hope to create money for local charities and provide local tennis enthusiasts an opportunity to watch professional tennis.
