Senior Sleigh has been one of the most rewarding programs Rector Hayden REALTORS has been able to participate in this year. And the best part was yet to come until many of our gracious volunteers, Santa included, helped to deliver the presents to Cambridge Place.
Faithful volunteers gathered their sleighs (vehicles) and assisted in loading over 100 gifts to take to Cambridge Place and hand out to the residents. Santa and his devoted elf helped sing Christmas carols and bring cheer to the residents.
We’re also appreciative of ABC36 WTVQ for interviewing Missy Ward – the founder of the Senior Sleigh program and helping bring attention to this fantastic cause.

To all who volunteered and made donations – thank you for supporting Operation Military Cheer in 2016!
DECEMBER 9, 2016 – LEXINGTON, KY
Flurries fell gently on a cold Bluegrass morning as a box truck pulls into the parking lot at the HomeBuilders Association of Lexington (soon to be known as the Building Industry Association of Central Kentucky). A KY National Guardsmen hops out and assists in directing the truck to back up to the brick stoop where Don Sullivan stands waiting to greet them.
Each year the HomeBuilders Association of Lexington and many volunteers come together to support a fantastic charity – OPERATION: Military Cheer. #OMC collects donations of toys and money to help provide Christmas to military families in need across the state of Kentucky. These are family members of both deployed and non-deployed members of the armed forces who need a helping hand during the holiday season.
Lexingtonians brought forth new bicycles, classic play things, fancy tech, the latest and greatest in toys, and so much more to donate for this cause. Volunteers helped bag up the donations and create an assembly line to help load up the box truck. Our donations are then taken to a processing center before being distributed to 16 locations across the state.
Cash donated to the cause goes toward a fund to buy size specific clothes and shoes for kids in these families ( cause we all know how fast kids grow out of stuff! ) and specificly requested items that may not have been donated.
This is the Season of Giving – and what better way to celebrate than to help our neighbors have a little more holiday cheer?
Thank you KY National Guard, HBALexington, Don Sullivan, the Halfhill Auction Group, and all of the other volunteers and donors who helped make wishes come true in 2016!
The Community Education Task Force of LBAR donates books to every elementary school in Central KY every year. We were so honored for each of the Rector Hayden agents that made the time and effort to volunteer and assist with this great community project.
Two of those special agents were Arla and Darrell Frazier. Arla and Darrell recently joined the RHR Family in Summer of 2016 after moving from the Indianapolis area where they also worked as leading real estate agents. Arla and Darrell have formed a team within Rector Hayden and gained an additional member, Theresa Terry as well! You can see their listings at: http://www.frazierteamrealty.rhr.com/
This year Darrell and I were thrilled to be a part. We delivered and read ‘The Day the Crayons Quit’ to an elementary class at Clay City Elementary and Stanton Elementary in Powell County. Darrell and I live in Clay City and it was a privilege and a joy to participate and meet these adorable kiddos and represent LBAR in such a meaningful way. We plan to participate in this event and others going forward – making a difference in the communities we serve. – Arla Frazier, 11-21-2016
Arla and Darrell read to children at the Stanton Library and the Clay City Elementary School. Read the press release from LBAR (Lexington Bluegrass Association of REALTORS) below.
Rector Hayden REALTORS is so blessed to have many other agents participate in this event. Missy Ward, our most devoted philanthropist, was caught reading at James Lane Allen Elementary too! Thanks to our unseasonal weather, Missy looks like she’s dressed for Summer – Kentucky Weather is crazy!!! A huge thank you to Missy for participating in this great event for our community’s kiddos.
In its 9th year, LBAR continues bookpresentations to local elementary schools.
November 18th, 2016
This school year Realtors representing the Lexington-Bluegrass Association of REALTORS® (LBAR) visited the public elementary schools in Anderson County including Emma B. Ward Elementary, Robert B. Turner Elementary, and Saffell Street Elementary and presented a book. Each school received The Day the Crayons Quit by esteemed author Drew Daywalt and acclaimed
illustrator Oliver Jeffers. In The Day the Crayons Quit poor Duncan just wants to color, but when he opens his box of crayons, he finds only letters, all saying the same thing. His crayons have had enough; they quit!
In its ninth year, Melissa Poynter, the chair of the LBAR community education task force, has continued to lead this project. This contribution to Anderson County is part of a larger donation to the public elementary schools in the Bluegrass region —LBAR will be presenting the book to over 140 elementary schools in 22 counties. The project is part of LBAR’s goal to become involved with the area’s school systems in innovative ways that will positively shape the future of our community’s children.
As the region’s leading advocate for homeownership, Lexington-Bluegrass Association of REALTORS® (LBAR) understands the value and joy of owning a home. LBAR represents more than 2,800 REALTORS® located in Anderson, Bath, Bell, Bourbon, Clark, Clay, Elliott, Fayette, Franklin, Harrison, Jackson, Jessamine, Knox, Laurel, Menifee, Montgomery, Nicholas, Powell, Rowan, Scott, Whitley, and Woodford Counties. It’s time to kickoff Operation Military Cheer for the Kentucky National Guard!
Home Builders Association of Lexington and their philianthropic group, Home Builders Care, invite Central Kentucky to help provide for 500+ military families across the state through the Operation Military Cheer fundraiser and toy drive.
Last year, thanks to generous support, Home Builders Care OPERATION: Military Cheer was able to serve these families via 16 distribution centers across the state.
We are in need of NEW UNWRAPPED TOYS or cash donations that will go toward purchasing coats, clothes, and shoes for those in need.
Rector Hayden REALTORS® is honored to support this fundraiser each holiday season, and it could not be done with out the generous efforts by our very own Don Sullivan.
Donations can be dropped off at the Rector Hayden REALTORS® Lexington Office during business hours. Our staff and agents will make sure that donations are submitted and gifts are kept safe.
To update you on our progress—Home Builders Care will be breaking ground on another new home for a well deserving family in early 2017 with the dedication planned for Veterans Day. Home Builders Care Appreciates everyone’s support of our programs!
Home Builders Care is the Registered 501(c)3 Arm of the Home Builders Association of Lexington
Pat Hayden, co-found of Rector Hayden REALTORS®, received his Half Century Award of Distinction today from the Kentucky Real Estate Commission. The Half Century Award is given to agents who have served the Kentucky Real Estate Community for 50 years.
Pat Hayden is a known celebrity to the Rector-Hayden family – as well as many Kentuckians for his charm, kindheartedness, and family values. We’d like to shine a little more light on what a fantastic leader Pat has been for Rector Hayden’s success.
Pat Hayden and Ray Rector founded Rector-Hayden Realtors back in 1969. The core values that they believed in are still strong in our company today as we have grown to serve nearly a third of all real estate transactions in the Central Kentucky area and are connected with other top companies around the globe.
An incredibly well-deserved award! My father [Ray Rector ] has said many times – Pat Hayden is the BEST thing to ever happen to Rector Hayden Realtors! Their partnership over the years was a perfect “marriage”, and Pat’s leadership not only helped create the number one real estate company in the region, but also helped improve and further the profession for everyone in Central Kentucky. Pat’s amazing 50-year influence continues to be felt by everyone in our business, and we’re very fortunate to STILL be reaping the many benefits of his knowledge and expertise.
– Keith Rector, Vice President of Marketing and Development at Rector Hayden REALTORS®
Pat Hayden was the Lexington Bluegrass Association of REALTORS® President in 1983 as well as named REALTOR® of the Year by LBAR in that same year! He was later given the REALTOR® of the Year Award again in a tie with his partner, Ray Rector in 1999. The REALTOR® of the Year award is given out to one agent each year that demonstrates superb REALTOR spirit, activity within the association, KAR / NAR involvement, community involvement, as well as business and education experience.
Pat has since retired from management at the Rector Hayden office but continues to offer community support and education in the real estate industry.
